Director, Global Economist
Morning Consult
Morning Consult is seeking a Director, Global Economist to serve as a senior subject matter expert at the intersection of economics, geopolitics, and corporate strategy. This role is a rare combination: someone who can explain why wheat prices in the American Midwest are a function of Iranian foreign policy — and make a room full of C-suite executives lean forward.
You will be the intellectual engine behind how Morning Consult's global clients — from multinational corporations to major financial institutions — understand and act on the forces reshaping the world economy. You will advise prospects and clients, develop reproducible analytical frameworks and AI-powered outputs, and build the content and thought leadership that drives Morning Consult's brand in global markets. You should be an expert in a single region of the world outside the United States - ideally EMEA or APAC- and informed about the rest of the world.
This is not a role for pure researchers or policy wonks. The right candidate brings serious academic and professional credentials and knows how to apply them commercially — translating complexity into insight, and insight into action that helps drive business outcomes.
What You'll Be Working On:
Serve as Morning Consult's senior global economic subject matter expert in client and prospect conversations, bringing credibility and dynamism to engagements with global corporate clients.
Partner with commercial teams to advance strategic opportunities, support pitches, and strengthen long-term client relationships by connecting macroeconomic and geopolitical developments to clients' business outcomes.
Develop reproducible analytical frameworks for global and foreign market assessments, drawing on Morning Consult's proprietary high-frequency data and external sources.
Build and maintain AI-agent and GPT-layer outputs that scale economic and geopolitical analysis across client use cases.
Lead original economic and geopolitical research projects, with a particular focus on how political and economic dynamics — elections, trade policy, energy geopolitics, monetary regimes — translate into business risk and opportunity.
Collaborate with the Economics Team to ensure analytical quality, methodological rigor, and forward-looking relevance.
Drive survey data collection efforts that shed light on complex political and economic dynamics — trade flows, monetary policy, energy markets, supply chain disruption — and distill that data into clear, actionable narratives for senior executive audiences.
Develop and publish high-quality economic and geopolitical analysis— reports, briefings, data analyses, op-eds — that build Morning Consult's profile among global corporate and financial audiences.
Conceive and lead webinars, client events, and media engagements that demonstrate Morning Consult's differentiated perspective on the intersection of markets, policy, and geopolitics.
Contribute to inbound marketing strategy, with analysis designed to generate qualified leads and deepen engagement with existing clients.
Work closely with product, marketing, and strategy teams to ensure economic and geopolitical intelligence is integrated into Morning Consult's data products and client solutions.
Serve as an internal resource and thought partner for commercial teams navigating global economic questions in client engagements.
Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and mentorship within the economic intelligence function.
